Frequently Asked Questions
NDIS Personal Care covers support with the intimate daily tasks a participant cannot complete independently due to their disability. This includes showering, bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, hair care, grooming, continence management, skincare, morning and evening routines, and mobility and transfer assistance. Personal care is funded under the Core Supports budget, specifically under Assistance with Daily Life, and must be directly related to the participant’s disability-related support needs. Grace Care delivers personal care to NDIS participants across Greater Sydney in full compliance with NDIS Practice Standards.
Yes. Grace Care actively accommodates gender preferences for personal care workers because we understand that comfort and dignity in intimate care situations are paramount. During the initial assessment we discuss gender preferences and do our best to match participants with a worker who meets their preference. Cultural and religious considerations related to personal care are also discussed and respected throughout the support arrangement.
All Grace Care personal care workers hold relevant qualifications in individual support, disability, or aged care, complete role-specific training in personal care techniques and manual handling, and hold current NDIS Worker Screening Clearances. Workers supporting participants with complex personal care needs complete additional specialist training specific to those requirements before commencing care. We never place unqualified or inadequately trained workers in personal care roles.
Privacy and dignity are the foundational values of Grace Care’s personal care service. Our workers are trained to communicate clearly before and throughout each care task, seek consent for each aspect of care, minimise exposure and disruption during intimate tasks, and respond immediately to any participant request for adjustment. Personal care plans are developed in detail with the participant specifying exactly how they want each task performed, ensuring support workers follow the participant’s preferences precisely and consistently.
Grace Care maintains a qualified backup staffing pool to cover unexpected absences in personal care arrangements. We notify participants as early as possible when a regular worker is unavailable and ensure a trained, thoroughly briefed replacement is arranged to maintain continuity of care. Replacement workers are briefed on the participant’s care plan, preferences, and routine before attending to minimise disruption and maintain the quality and comfort of the care session.
Yes. Grace Care builds personal care schedules entirely around the participant’s daily routine and preferences. Whether you need morning care before work or day program, midday support, evening assistance, or a combination of times across the day, we design the schedule to fit your life. We understand that personal care timing is not flexible for most participants and we treat punctuality in personal care as a non-negotiable professional standard.
